Privacy Policy for Horizon

This Privacy Policy explains how Horizon ("the app", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects your information. Horizon is a German vocabulary learning app for Azerbaijani and Turkish speakers. By using the app, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

1. Information We Collect

You can use Horizon without creating an account. If you do not sign in, your learning progress is stored only on your device and is not sent to us.

If you choose to sign in (with Apple or Google) to back up and sync your progress, we collect:

• Account information — your email address and display name, provided by Apple or Google when you sign in. (With Sign in with Apple, you may choose to hide your email; in that case we receive a private relay address.)
• Learning data — your card progress (words marked as learned or skipped), test scores, points, daily streak, and your in-app settings (theme, audio, language preference).
• A user identifier — an anonymous account ID used to associate your data with your account.

We also store, on your device and in your private iCloud storage, a record of when your free trial started and your sign-in display name, so the trial and your name persist if you reinstall the app.

We do NOT collect: your precise location, contacts, photos, health data, browsing history, advertising identifiers, or any data for tracking you across other apps or websites. We do not show ads.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information only to:

• Provide and sync your learning progress across your devices;
• Show your name and score on the in-app leaderboard (visible to other signed-in users);
• Maintain your daily streak and test results;
• Operate the optional one-time purchase ("Horizon Pro");
• Keep the app working reliably.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.

3. Payments

Horizon offers an optional one-time purchase to unlock full access after a free trial. All payments are processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive or store your payment card details. Apple's handling of your purchase is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following trusted services to operate the app. Your data is handled according to their privacy policies:

• Google Firebase (Authentication and Cloud Firestore) — stores your account and learning data. https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy
• Google Sign-In — used if you sign in with Google. https://policies.google.com/privacy
• Apple (Sign in with Apple, iCloud, App Store / In-App Purchase). https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/

The German word audio is generated on your device by Apple's text-to-speech; no audio data is sent to us.

5. Data Storage and Security

Account and learning data are stored securely in Google Firebase. Access is restricted by security rules so that only you can write your own data. Data in transit is encrypted. While no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, we take reasonable measures to protect your information.

6. Data Retention and Deletion

You are in control of your data:

• Delete your account anytime — in the app, go to Settings → Account → Delete Account. This permanently removes your account data (progress, scores, streak, and leaderboard entry) from our servers.
• If you use the app without an account, your data lives only on your device and is removed when you delete the app.

7. Children's Privacy

Horizon is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

8. International Data Transfers

Your information may be processed on servers located outside your country of residence, including by the third-party services listed above. By using the app, you consent to this processing.

9. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data, or to object to its processing. You can delete all of your data directly in the app (Section 6), or contact us for any other request.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
